Yesterday, Veron and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Nothing spectacular. Just a simple quiet lunch along Boat Quay, near where she worked. I was on leave to chauffeur our girls to & from the Sunday School camp, and managed to carve out that few hours around noon for this special celebration. The lunch date was a surprise for her, and so was the bouquet which I hand-delivered to her at her office.
Her colleagues commented that I looked kind of odd to be standing there holding a bouquet at my age, saying that "such things are normally done by younger men". I agree, and all the more I think Veron deserves it, no matter how out of place I looked.
Think about it.
If we can profess to climb the highest mountain and cross the deepest ocean just to be with our beloved during courtship, how much more we ought to do after we got married? Come on, our beloved stuck through thick and thin with us for the last 10 years and we can't even pluck enough courage to buy and deliver a bouquet of flowers as a form of thanksgiving and appreciation?
It may have been just a simple lunch and an ordinary bouquet of roses, but all the same, to my dearest wife and helpmate for the last 10 years:
HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY, VERON
I thank God for you,
for your loving me despite all my flaws, and
for blessing me with our two girls Deborah and Rachel.
May God continue to bless you in all that you do, and
shine through you wherever you are.
Holding that torch as a daughter of Sarah isn't easy,
especially in today's world
where God's Word and values
have been conveniently chucked aside.
May you continue to stay the course, and
walk under His blessings and favor.
Love,
Thomas
