I opened my eyes and within an inch, a sharp, spear-like object greeted me. I don't know what and who woke me up. Maybe it was an angel or God Himself. I looked around. My wife and kids are still sound asleep.
The watch says "1.40am".
I looked at the object again. It was the end of the curtain rod which had collapsed from about 1.5m up. The rod & curtain weighs about 2-3 kg. It could have pierced my skull through my left eye. I felt all over my head. No blood. A little pain somewhere on the back of my head but I can't pin-point where.
I looked at the other end of the curtain rod. It landed a little above Deborah and Rachel. I went over to feel their heads. The kids looked sound asleep. Don't look like they've been whacked with something.
My heart was heavy, yet excited. It dawned upon me that it was yet another close shave, and the hand of God has once again intervened to save his servants.
I uttered a solemn prayer, thanking God for sparing us from a disaster. I also prayed for Rachel, whom I reprimanded heavily at bedtime. It was a time of reflection for me. Rachel needs help, not another lecture from me. I prayed for forgiveness, and for all the help that Rachel needs.
Is not life more important the food, and the body more important than clothes? Matthew 6:25
