Rediscovering Life Through Adversity

Life is like a long distance race. Sometimes the only thing that stands being us and completing the race is giving ourselves the opportunity to experience the journey and see if we cannot come out richer from it.
Yet the journey is also about the people in our lives, whom life reveals what is in their hearts, even as it reveals what is in ours; through trials, adversity, sickness, brokenness, fears and hopelessness.
Ironically, it is only through adversity that the true nature of man is revealed. Adversity is the trial of principle. Without it a man hardly knows whether he is honest or not ~ Henry Fielding.

2009 has been a year in which friendship, career, character, faith and resilience have been tested to the limit. Looking back, I am thankful for the moments that threw out the inconsistency and shallowness in the these areas, as they revealed falsity and at the same time, what they could be. I have lost heart but by the grace and love of God, I have received a new breath of life to carry on with the journey of life. In the words of Psalmist David, "I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen you heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!" Psalm 27:13-14 NKJV.

Siang, thank you for running the race with me today. Ten months in the womb has given me a brother for a lifetime!
