Maker of our times

Then Paul stood in the midst of the Aeropagus (Hill of Aeros) and said, "Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshipped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your poets have said, 'For we are His offspring.' Acts 17:22-28 NKJV.

We don't know, do we? Why each one of us is who we are, each born according to God's appointed time, place and purpose. Purpose - so that they (we) should seek the Lord, in the hope that they (we) might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being. No one is an accident, each one of us is uniquely made by God. In other words, each one of us is a masterpiece. He knows what we are created for, He knows why He created us and how we ought to live and love. The state of the economy may drive or dash your ambition. Society may expect you to conform and go along with what's hot and what's not. How then ought we to perceive this gift of life that He has given us? What can He do about who we are and make our existence count wherever He has planted us? If history is made for man, we only have to be reminded of those who rose to the occasion and fulfill the purpose of their lifetime. Consider the likes of Martin Luther King, Jr; Malcolm X, Winston Churchill, Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa.

How about the God who made us? Who took on human flesh, emotions, and limitations so that He could have a firsthand experience of what we would go through in life. Having accepted his mission on earth, struggled yet was willing to bear the extremity of crucifixion. Why? Only because love puts the beloved before self. He paid the price for our shortfall that in exchange He may deposit in us a seed that would transform us into who He knows we can be, to be just like Jesus.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. And because I know, I know He holds the future. And life is worth the living just because He lives.

Born in the eleventh month of the year nineteen hundred and seventy-three - To depart at His appointed time,
