The River of Life

There is a longing only You can fill, a raging tempest only You can still

My soul is thirsting Lord, to know You as I'm known

To drink from the river that flows before Your throne

Take me deeper, deeper in love with You

Jesus hold me close to Your embrace

Take me deeper, deeper than I've ever been before

I just want to love You more and more, how I long to be deeper in love

Sunrise to sunrise I will seek Your face, drawn by the Spirit to the Promise of Your grace

My heart has found in You, a hope that will abide. Here in Your Presence, forever satisfied

Still, anyone selected out for life has hope, for, as they say, "A living dog is better than a dead lion." The living at least know something, even if it's only that they're going to die. But the dead know nothing and get nothing. They're a minus that no one remembers. Their loves, their hates, yes, even their dreams, are long gone. There's not a trace of them left in the affairs of this earth.

Seize life! Eat bread with gusto, drink wine with a robust heart. Oh yes - God takes pleasure in your pleasure! Dress festively every morning. Don't skimp on colours and scarves. Relish life with the spouse you love each and every day of your precarious life. Each day is God's gift. It's all you get in exchange for the hard work of staying alive. Make the most of each one! Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily! This is your last and only chance at it, for there's neither work to do nor thoughts to think in the company of the dead, where you're most certainly headed. Ecclesiastes 9:4-10 The Message.

While we are still alive, we have hope. Death robs us of the opportunity. Don't fall into the trap of a humdrum life. Don't try to appease insatiable greed and don't let the sun go down on your anger. There are things we will not be able to do when we are dead.

We will not have a chance to love, to forgive, to be faithful, to be honest, to do the right thing, to dream. Don't let it happen to you. Perhaps a whiff of humanity will exit that corpse as a sign of a life well lived even as it awaits burial.

I am constantly reminded by a mate that she is grateful for each day and counting her blessings. And I guess it's time to take the game to the next level. No grunting please. ;P

Live it up,
