Letter from Lynn

Dear friends,

It has been more than two months since I wrote to you. Sorry for the long absence but internet access had not been readily available. It has been a trying two months but God has been faithful and good. His grace has been sufficient for me. Praise the Lord!

To cut the long story short, I have moved house three times in two months. In the first week of this month, my mum started working as the church warden with my home church in Singapore. She has been allocated living quarters, so I am currently living with her. My mum is settling in well to the new living and working environment - thanks be to God!

I have not found a job yet and am still looking. I have applied for jobs both in Shanghai and Singapore. Many of you are aware that I was working in the Information Techonology (IT) industry before I left for studies in London. I have been applying for IT jobs since my return to Singapore. A lot of people ask me why I am applying for IT jobs and not jobs in counselling. My answer was that it would enable me to command a higher pay so that I would be able to clear my study loans in a shorter time.

I sought the Lord all these times about the closed doors in IT. Recently, the verse in James 2:20 especially spoke to me, "But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?" The Lord has also brought to my remembrance my passion in walking alongside people and enabling them to experience freedom - the very passion He has placed in my innermost being. It dawned on me that I have been walking 'by sight' and not by faith for the past couple of months - I have been focusing on my situation and wanted to rely on my own strengths/abilities to 'fix' it. Indeed God's grace has been sufficient for me and He has enabled me to realise once again all that I have is only possible because of His grace and that He is in control of everything. I decided to put my faith to work, so I have stopped applying for IT jobs and have sent out various applications for counselling-related. Please pray with me - for me to never stop waiting upon the Lord for open doors to China and/or the job of His will.

Last but not least, I want to thank God for the wonderful sisters and brothers He has brought into my life, who have always been there to encourage and support me in times of trials and need.

In His grace,
Lynn
