I am eternally grateful to God for giving me life.
The first time, when I was born. The second time, when I was born again.
On both occasions, the life which I received from God was a gift of unconditional love. We are created as an expression of His love.
Each one of us is beautifully and wonderfully made. The psalmist proclaims, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." Psalm 139:14 NKJV.
Be it love, joy, disappointment or sorrow; we get to experience life in all its fullness. These are the different parcels that we uncover during the course of life. And the choice is ours to decide what we want to carry along with us that will either help us grow or stall in life. I know someone who lost a loved one recently. When words are not good enough to comfort, I remember the words of the apostle Paul, "Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep." Romans 12:15 NKJV.
Jesus wept too. Why? When his heart went out to the people who were grieving because someone they loved had passed away.
Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the spirit and was troubled.
And He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to Him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus wept. John 11:33-35 NKJV.
If we cherish life, we would cherish the living while they are with us. Friend or a foe? It depends on how we choose to see them.
When all is said and done, may we find ourselves in the company of great men and women when life as we know draws to an end.
Indeed, may we come to perceive in our hearts, "To live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21 NKJV.
