"But God said to him, "Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things to which you have provided?" Luke 12:20 NKJV.
"And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you." Luke 12:29-31 NKJV.
There will come a time when our soul will be demanded of us, when our life will come to an end. When that time arrives, what will our response be? How will we react? Will we leave with a sense of mission accomplished? A job well done? Or running through a list of could-have-beens, should-have-beens? Or will we say confidently as Paul, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 NKJV.
The Message interprets, "Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You'll find your everyday human concerns will be met. Don't be afraid of missing out. You're my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself." Luke 12:31-32.
Jesus says, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10 NIV. Abundant, exceedingly, very highly, beyond measure, more, superfluous, showing strong feelings. We are not meant to merely exist in this world. We are created and redeemed to experience an abundant life, to be alive, and to live it to the full!
As believers, how ought our choice be? To have an abundant life, look God-ward. Sink deeply into the truth or reality found in His inspired Word. Listen to what God is saying to us about Himself and about how we should regard life and how we ought to live. Trust that the LORD would direct our paths and provide the means as we seek to live the abundant life that He has in store for us. Lest at the hour when our soul is demanded of us, the Lord would say to us, "You're right that I don't suffer fools gladly - and you've acted the fool! Why didn't you at least invest the money in securities so I would have gotten a little interest in it? Risk your life and get more than you ever dreamed of. Play it safe and end up holding the bag." Luke 19:22-23; 26 The Message.
"Risk your life and get more than you ever dreamed of." That's all He asks of us, and that's all He requires.
In Christ,
