The Lamb of God

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Revelation 5:6 NIV.

Lamb. Pictured as the sacrifice for sin ("slain": cf. Isaiah 53:7; John 1:29) and as the mighty conqueror (17:14). Revelation uses a special word for "lamb" (29 times in Revelation and only once elsewhere in the NT - John 21:15). The idea of the lamb as a victorious military leader seems to come from the apocalyptic tradition (1 Enoch 90:9; Testament of Joseph 19:8). as if it had been slain. Bearing the marks of its slaughter - he has come to power through his death. seven horns. The horn is an ancient Jewish symbol for power or strength (cf. Deuteronomy 33:17). The fourth beast of Daniel 7:7-20 had ten horns (cf. Daniel 8:3,5). Seven horns would symbolize full strength. - Extracted from the NIV Study Bible.

The Message translates as "So I looked, and there, surrounded by Throne, Animals, and Elders, was a Lamb, slaughtered but standing tall. Seven horns he had, and seven eyes, the Seven Spirits of God sent into all the earth." Revelation 5:6.

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is and is to come!" Revelation 4:8 NIV.

Dividing up his clothes, they threw dice for them. The people stood there staring at Jesus, and the ringleaders made faces, taunting, "He saved others. Let's see him save himself! The Messiah of God - ha! The Chosen - ha!" The soldiers also came up and poked fun at him, making a game of it. They toasted him with sour wine: "So you're the King of the Jews! Save yourself!" Printed over him was a sign: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. One of the criminals hanging alongside cursed him: "Some Messiah you are! Save yourself! Save us!"
But the other one made him shut up: "Have you no fear of God? You're getting the same as him. We deserve this, but not him - he did nothing to deserve this." Luke 23:35-41 The Message.

Holy, holy, holy, are you Lord God Almighty? Worthy is the Lamb, worthy is the Lamb. Amen.

Blameless. He did nothing to deserve this. Yet he was obedient even to the point of death.
Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn't claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death - and the worst kind of death at that - a crucifixion. Philippians 2:8 The Message.

He will not crush those who are weak or quench the smallest hope. He will bring full justice to all who have been wronged. He will not stop until truth and righteousness prevail throughout the earth. Even distant lands beyond the sea will wait for his instruction. Isaiah 42:3-4 New Living Translation.

I may not be perfect. I may not know how to love. But I know as beyond me as it may seem, He has shown me that it is possible. How? He took it upon himself to go through it that because he did, that it may just be a ray of hope for me.
