Dear Father
This morning, I had one of the most unusual encounters with a stranger. It was a stock-broker. He called me to interest me in buying some stocks which he claims will yield a return of over 60% when sold in 3 months' time, because he has some tips that he knows will inflate the share price of a certain company. I told him that I am not interested, and he started making nasty remarks about not understanding how a person can be uninterested in making money. I told him money is not everything, and investments are certainly not a main focus in my life. You are the main focus in my life. I wasn't sure how I could tell him that you are the only investment I need, because you are the Almighty God. Instead I told him that not everyone places the same emphasis on making money work hard for them, because we know that you are the provider, and you only called us to be responsible stewards of the resources you gave us, which are more than material things. You certainly didn't teach me to be greedy, but to give my time and attention to other things that are really matters of life and death. I know that we have been more than adequately provided for by you, and that itself is the best investment that money cannot buy, and stock-brokers cannot sell.
Lord, you know the person whom I spoke to. May you touch his life and help him come to your saving grace. Then he will understand why some of us, who already have our treasures in heaven, are not concerned about how much treasures we have on earth, where thieves steal and moth and rust destroy.
Thank you Lord. I feel much better after talking to you. May your name be praised forever and ever.
Your child,
Thomas
