The Days of Our Lives

PSALM 90. A Prayer of Moses the man of God. NKJV.

10  The days of our lives are seventy years;
      And if by reason of strength they are eighty years,
      Yet their boast is only labour and sorrow;
      For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

12  So teach us to number our days,
      that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

The days of our lives are numbered. The time we have to walk the face of the earth is limited. How then shall we live?
The Apostle Peter illuminates our thinking by reminding us that, "Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God." 1 Peter 1:17 The Message.
Journey depicts a timeline, a beginning and an end. Consciousness is an inner awareness of or sensitivity toward another.
We are thus exhorted to live the days of our lives with a deep awareness of and sensitivity toward God.

Why is that necessary? Not only is it necessary because the days of our lives are numbered, but it is necessary because God says,
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; but he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him. Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; and shout for joy, all you upright in heart! Psalm 32:8-11 NKJV. The LORD of hosts will personally guide you along in the journey of life!

God desires to commune with His people, so as to reveal and empower them for the plans and purposes that He has in store for them. Also that they may find rest in Him.
"I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen. When you come looking for me, you'll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed." GOD's Decree. Jeremiah 29:11-14 The Message.

As they continued their travel, Jesus entered a village. A woman by the name of Martha welcomed him and made him feel quite at home. She had a sister, Mary, who sat before the Master, hanging on every word he said. But Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen. Later, she stepped in, interrupting them. "Master, don't you care that my sister has abandoned the kitchen to me? Tell her to lend me a hand." The Master said, "Martha, dear Martha, you're fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it - it's the main course, and won't be taken from her." Luke 10:38-42 The Message. Rest with God, you will need what you get from it for the journey.

Running the eternal race. Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.  1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NKJV.

Life is long enough. May we live in such a manner that should it stop at any one time, we will return with the Lord with no regrets, having lived a life fulfilled in Christ.

Shalom,
Sv
