When a loved one hurts

When a loved one hurts
We feel the pain
We look for answers
Sometimes in vain

Hope lingers for a moment
Then gives way to doubt
In stillness we cry
In helplessness we shout

Prayers of faith
Words of comfort
Tears of anguish
Can't take away the hurt

Holding her hand
Stroking her hair
Our presence we offer
Our heart we share

Amidst the gloom
We know we're not alone
For outside Lazarus's tomb
Jesus said, "Take away the stone!"

He prayed and the Father heard Him
With a loud voice, said "Lazarus, come out!"
The people standing there believed
When Lazarus appeared, dispelling all doubt!

In Christ there is hope
When all else seems bleak
When it feels like the end of the rope
Through the darkness, dawn breaks

I'm touched by the love
The brethren has shown
When dark clouds gathered above
Their love shone through like a beacon

Peeling away
One layer at a time
Till the silver lining shows
Till the sun shines bright
