I understand how you felt about your classmate who refused to lend her
stationery to the team because her mother had taught her so. For those
who have yet to experience and acknowledge the love of GOD in Christ
Jesus, it is possible that they subscribe to such thinking. As a
student, my classmates and I were selfish. We were kiasu, and tried
our best to get ahead of others by every means. We were even secretly
happy when others stumble. You see, Man is inherently selfish, caring
for himself above others. That is why GOD has to teach and show us
another kind of love - love that is selfless, love that is truly love,
love that is spelt "JESUS".
When Jesus told the story of the good Samaritan, He was illustrating
the kind of love we ought to show to our neighbor, which includes your
classmate and her mother. GOD wants us to love them because He loves
them too. Your classmate's family came from China. They know they need
to try very hard to make it in this country that is not their
motherland. If we migrate to another country, we would have to try
extra hard to survive there too. What your friend and her mother do
not know is that GOD is able to help them, and that there is a better
way to live, that is, making Jesus Christ LORD of our lives.
This could be an opportunity for you and fellow Christian classmates
to show her the joy of giving and sharing, for the Bible says that it
is more blessed to give than to receive. The Bible also says "Look not
every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of
others." (Philippians 2:4). What this means is to always consider the
needs of others, just as GOD is always concerned about us. In doing
so, you are reaching out to her and others with GOD's love.
As we walk down the road of life, we will come across people,
behaviour, actions, organizations, and situations that do not align
with what the Bible says. Let those be opportunities for us to make a
difference. Even if we can only touch one person for Jesus, it will be
worth it all because each person is precious in His sight.
The LORD bless you, my child.
Love,
Papa
