The Measure of a Man

Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; but let him who glories glory in this,
that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, exercising loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight," says the LORD. Jeremiah 9:23-24 NKJV.

We pat ourselves on the back, relishing with great pride and satisfaction at what we have built for ourselves, at what we have made of our lives.
Careers, flashy automobiles, real estates, right behaviour, self-righteousness, intelligence, academia, riches and wealth.
We think so highly of our achievements, our holiness; so much so that everything and everyone else falls short! But that's not what GOD says. Read again.

"Don't let the wise brag of their wisdom. Don't let heroes brag of their exploits. Don't let the rich brag of their riches. If you brag, brag of this and this only:
That you understand and know me. I'm GOD, and I act in loyal love. I do what's right and set things right and fair, and delight in those who do the same things.
These are my trademarks." GOD's Decree. Jeremiah 9:23-24 The Message.

The present form of the world passes away, and there remains only the joy of having used this world to establish God's rule here.
All pomp, all triumphs, all selfish capitalism, all the false successes of life will pass with the world's form. All of that passes away. What does not pass away is love.
When one has turned money, property, work in one's calling into service of others, then the joy of sharing and the feeling that all are one's family does not pass away.
In the evening of life you will be judged on love. ~ Oscar Romero, The Violence of Love
