Dreams - The Passion For Living

Hold fast to dreams

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly

Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen with snow

("Dreams" by Langston Hughes)

"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul". Matthew 16:26 NKJV

Soul - The animating and vital principle in humans, credited with the faculties of thought, action, and emotion.

The spiritual nature of humans, regarded as immortal, separable from the body at death, and susceptible to happiness or misery in a future state.

Passion – A powerful emotion, such as love, joy, hatred, or anger. Strong enthusiasm or devotion; fervent; burning.

"It seems to me we can never give up longing and wishing while we are alive. There are certain things we feel to be beautiful and good, and we must hunger for them." – George Eliot.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when dreams come true, there is life and joy. Proverbs 13:12 NLT

Sometimes our dreams may appear seemingly far away, and we cease to recognize them. Before we know it, we have disowned them.

We continue to go through the motion of living without desiring anything. Emotionally, we have detached ourselves from what goes on around us.

Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10 NKJV

If that involves changing our perspective and disposition, He will do whatever is necessary for our good.

If it means having to go through pain and sorrow before we are made stronger and wiser through trials, He will make sure that we shall come forth as gold.

Even if it will take years for things to fall into place, the LORD would have added to our stature the qualities needed that we may see our desires fulfilled.

When dreams die, people leave and the heart is weary, it is perfectly fine to break down, feel the pain. For if it is not through pain, how would we then know what joy is when we receive the desire of our heart? How would we know that it brings life?

Shalom,
