There is an endless song, echoing through my soul, I hear its music ring.
Even though I face life's storms, yet I'll carry on, clinging to my Rock and King.
How can I keep from singing Your praise, how can I ever say enough, how amazing is Your love.
How can I keep from shouting Your name, I know I am loved by the King and it makes my heart want to sing.
Then David spoke to the LORD the words of this song, on the day when the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.
And he said: "The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; the God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Saviour, You save me from violence. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. 2 Samuel 22:1-4 NKJV.
Recent transitions at the workplace have once again served as a reminder that power and status are but temporal, even fleeting. At the end of the day, what really matters is the significance of what remains in the heart. And that significance can only be found and nurtured when we regard the next person as a human being whom GOD loves and embraces despite innate sinful failings and flaws. The same sinful failings and flaws that can be found in ourselves. It is because of the love that GOD withholds not from the unjust, with which Jesus exhorts his followers to love their enemies and pray for their persecutors.
"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust......Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:44-45; 48 NKJV. I experienced a precursor of the Father's heart when I caught a glimpse of how GOD sees the unjust; His tears for their brokenness and His anger at their wickedness. And the only way to break end that vicious cycle is love.
After forty years at the helm of the kingdom of Israel, now these are the last words of David. Thus says David the son of Jesse; thus says the man raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel: "The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue. The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me: 'He who rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, like the tender grass springing out of the earth, by clear shining after rain.' 2 Samuel 23:1-4 NKJV.
Morning has broken. The God of Israel has ushered in a new dawn at the desk. In His time His faithfulness has come through to His people.
I stand amazed,
