Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not His benefits. Psalms 103:1-2 NKJV.
February 18, 2007. First day of the Lunar New Year. A time where Chinese around the world celebrate the arrival of spring, ushering in the beginning of a new lunar year. It is a time of festivity, reunions, feasting, renewing of family ties and remembering one's roots. I love Chinese New Year. I had a friend who used to call me, "Chinese New Year fart". Another long time friend says that I am the rare breed that likes Chinese New Year songs.
February 25, 2007. Eighth day of the Lunar New Year. In the course of visiting relatives and catching up with friends, one note resonates loudly and clearly. That is, I am a part of a community; a member of a clan, that my friends from high school are still an integral part of my life. Having said that, it is through my family and friends that I have recognised and found my identity, through whom I am living out my purpose in Christ.
I have also recognised that I have come thus far in my work because of the folks who have made a difference in my life. The industry which I plough a living from is oiled by dollars and cents, shaped by greed and fear and run over by bulls and bears. Welcome to world of investment and finance. Yet! Yet! I have been blessed to "be raised" by three strong giving ladies when I started out at the desk.
Jacquie, for believing that I have what it takes, for pushing me beyond what I could see. Da Guo, for being a shelter and a mother hen to me at and away from the desk. Nanc, for looking out for me and taking on this small fry. It's an unmerciful and demanding industry where we hail from. Tender shoots either get ruined or grow crooked along the way. So, I thank the LORD our God for making our paths crossed. That the heart which I have been wearing on my sleeve has been nurtured and groomed.
Hence, at the expense of repeating myself -
Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not His benefits. Psalms 103:1-2 NKJV.
Thank you,
Xiao Guo ",+
