Be Still

My heart is not proud, O LORD, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Israel, put your hope in the LORD both now and forevermore. Psalm 131 NIV. Nothing compares to the sweet presence of Jesus. Imagine God's love enveloping you completely, and every nerve in your body just responding to His love; love that is pure, clean, without sin. Maybe that was why David bellowed from his very soul in Psalms 34:8," Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him." NIV. A moment when divine love fills an inviting heart, brings hope to a desperate heart, and cracks a hardened heart. A moment of ecstasy! Exclusive implosion! A moment of regeneration.

Being one with the Father is an awesome experience. It can transform a person, it can send a hardcore criminal sobbing like a baby, it can change your destiny, as it did Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Daniel, Paul and many more. Psalm 131 captured a time in David's life when his relationship with the Father was close and intimate. "Like a weaned child with its mother...is my soul within me." Like an infant nestled in the mother's protecting arms, experiencing absolute security in fellowship with the Lord.

Today, in the midst of the daily activities in our lives, subconsciously our souls desire to be stilled and quietened. Jesus invites us "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NIV. Shutting out the world, and tuning in to the voice of God. An open Bible, and open heart. A quiet moment. Waiting expectantly for God to reach out to us, and offering his gift of peace. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 NIV.

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. ~ Deuteronomy 33:27 NIV.
